Overview

As of July 2025, here’s what you can expect when running payroll with Province:

  • Payroll is calculated based on the hours and wage you assign to each employee.

  • Pay stubs are emailed to your employees automatically on pay day.

  • Vacation pay is tracked in the background as earnings are entered.

  • CRA payment due dates are calculated and tracked for you. Emails are sent to you before the payment is due, so you can make the payment on time.

  • T4s are generated and filed with the CRA at year-end.

What Makes Province Payroll Different?

Most payroll systems ask you to enter a single total for the pay period—like “80 hours worked over two weeks.” That’s fine for basic payroll, but when labour law or CRA requirements get more complex, these tools usually push the burden back on you:

  • “Fill in this Record of Employment with detailed info”

  • “Calculate stat holiday pay manually”

Province Payroll is different. We ask you to assign hours to specific calendar days. That extra structure upfront gives us what we need to automate advanced payroll features—and removes complexity from your shoulders.

Understanding Earnings and Deductions

At the core of Province Payroll are Earnings and Deductions.

  • Earnings = what the employee earns. This could be hours worked in a shift, a bonus, or any other type of income.

  • Deductions = amounts withheld from the employee’s pay. For example, RRSP contributions, or the employee’s portion of their health and dental benefits.

Your job is to enter Earnings and Deductions. Province handles the rest.
